Amateur Radio Special Event Station
MARC to Host Special Amateur Radio Event
The Mississauga Amateur Radio Club (MARC), VE3MIS, dates back to 1984 having formed up as a club after the train derailment and the largest peace time evacuation of a city in Canadian history. Located just to the west of Toronto, the Mississauga Amateur Radio Club is located in the City of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. (FN03) MARC is probably the most active club in Ontario. Members of the Club are involved with various public service and emergency preparedness activities. Membership in the Mississauga Amateur Radio Club provides a forum for the learning of new skills, the sharing of ideas and experiences with other hams, or just for the fellowship of others who share an interest in amateur radio. Seminars are conducted from time to time on topics of interest. We feature guest speakers on a wide variety of topics from new equipment to DXpeditions. Our monthly newsletter offers a good view of Club happenings or check out our club calendar. The club operates two repeaters (VHF and UHF) and also operates a fully equipped club station for use of our members. We have a contest group that participates in many of the ARRL, RAC, CQ, and IARU contests.
We also participate in local community events such as walks and special
event radio stations. Our ARES group is also active in public service and
support through the various local agencies.
MARC has obtained the call sign of VE3ISAR for this special event for the dates of September 26, through September 30, 2007.
